Welcome to Kinnerton

Kinnerton Confectionery is a manufacturer of chocolate and novelty confectionery and was established in 1978 to use character merchandising to promote the sales of its chocolate confectionery. In April 2005, Kinnerton was made part of Zetar Plc, a group dedicated to the snack and confectionery industry. Today, with a turnover of £45M we develop an extensive range of seasonal and everyday confectionery from Easter eggs and Advent calendars, to chocolate bars and chocolate miniature figures as well as chocolate and jelly lollipops, processing over 6 thousand tonnes of chocolate every year. Over the years our confectionery ranges have included some of the most well known character names from film, TV and music as well as design led brands.

Allergen Free Chocolate, Naf Nac, and Portion Control

Kinnerton is committed to our responsibility as a manufacturer of confectionery aimed at children - whether that’s producing chocolate with the Nut Safety Promise, sourcing jellies and mallows which have No Artificial Flavours and No Artificial Colours (NAFNAC) or addressing children’s health issues with portion controlled products. In 1999, we became the first confectioner to offer chocolate manufactured in a Nut segregated area, pioneering the concepts of a separated factory that keeps nut traces out of all our chocolates, and more recently producing a Nut Free Dairy Free Gluten Free and Egg Free luxury chocolate bar. Kinnerton spent over a million pounds on improving the choice made available to adults and children alike. When out-sourcing for confectionery such as candies, jellies and mallows, we strive to find suppliers that also meet these criteria.

Kinnerton Confectionery is also committed to endeavouring to make the majority of its range of everyday products in portion control formats. Our chocolate bars, bags of buttons and lollipops, which forms a substantial part of our everyday range, are largely marketed in portions of less than 30g. We are now selling these products as ‘treats’, to flag to consumers that they should be enjoyed as an addition to a healthy balanced diet.

Manufacturing Standards and Safety

Our robust food quality and safety systems have been audited against the British Retail Consortiums “Global Food Standard”. Against this rigorous standard Kinnerton has been certified to the Higher Level, currently the highest level attainable. This standard incorporates detailed requirements for a HACCP system which exceeds those detailed in the General Food Hygiene Regulations. Kinnerton’s HACCP (Hazard Analysis and Critical Control Points), food safety system has been developed according to Codex Alimentarius principles, as supported by Campden Chorleywood, a leading Food Science and research institute. Moreover, our factory is audited to standards high enough to meet the requirements of partner companies who we manufacture chocolate on behalf of including Mars, Cadburys, MacDonalds, Marks and Spencer and Tesco. We of course ensure all premiums and toys manufactured for Kinnerton have been risk assessed and comply with the Toy Safety Regulations. This is verified by inspections from our dedicated Quality Assurance team. We also apply the same high standards when sourcing from abroad to ensure that all of our products meet the best level of quality.
